2020 Shows & Events
Come see the intricacies of my toes, face, and hands as I perform "Bringing Forth" at Modern Night at the Folly in Kansas City. The first piece to my solo show, "Inner Reformation," this intimate dance portrays an infant in the womb (which happens to be me!). At the beautiful Folly Theater, we will perform Saturday, February 1st, at 8pm. Purchase tickets here.

When to Arrive at the Show?
Plan to arrive in the building 20 to 30 minutes before the show (for at 10 minutes to show time, they open the ticket booth to any who are standing in line in an effort to fill the theater as much as possible). NO ONE can be seated once the show has begun. Please give yourself plenty of time to park (5-10 minutes extra) and check for any summertime road construction that may affect your travel time.
What You Need to Get into a Fringe Show?
- You need a ticket. Tickets go on sale July 2nd (it's said that it's best to reserve tickets in advance to prevent showing up to an already sold out show).
- You need to arrive early (for the sake of not losing your seat).
- You need a Fringe Button, which can be purchased at the Bolender Center upon arrival.
Tickets for Children?
Tickets for children ages 6-12 are $5 and are only available at the box office 30 minutes prior to show time. Fringe Buttons for children 12 and under are free.
Is this Show Appropriate for Children?
As the caregiver you must decide. While many dances are easily accessible to young ones, there are some that are intense, dealing with darker subjects. If concerned, you can contact Tessa for more information. Should you choose to attend with children, certainly caregivers can talk about certain subjects from this work of art with their children, helping them to process it.
Where Do I Park?
The Kansas City Ballet has ample parking.
How Do I Get to the Kansas City Ballet?
Very carefully! See Google Maps for 500 W Pershing Rd, Kansas City, MO 64108
Why Do I Need to Arrive So Early?
Fringe Shows are quite unlike any other. Shows are run back to back to back. It is a festival after all, so they must maintain a very tight schedule. In an effort to fill as many seats as possible, ticket lines for unreserved seats open at 10 minutes before show time, which means that even if you have a reserved ticket, you can lose your seat if you don't arrive before the unreserved ticket line opens (particularly in the event of a sold-out show). Furthermore, no one is allowed late seating for the show (shows are only one hour, they need to stay on schedule, so they don't allow for interruptions).
Why Do I Need a Fringe Button?
Everyone needs a Fringe Button to enter a show (thankfully, it is a one-time purchase, and children 12 and under get theirs for free). Fringe Buttons help cover the overhead cost of running the Fringe Festival.
What If "Inner Reformation" Sells Out, I really Wanted to See the Show?
If it sells out, awesome! In which case, it may win "Best of Venue" and would make a final appearance on Sunday, July 29th at 3:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Ballet. If by chance "Inner Reformation" happens to win "Best of Fringe" however, 3 more performances would happen the weekend following Fringe (at which point, details would be shared. Oh, and the winner of the "Best of Fringe" gets to go the New York Fringe Festival in 2019!!!). Aside from "Best of Venue" and "Best of Fringe", your best bet to view "Inner Reformation" (should it sell out or should you be unable to attend this debut) is to write Tessa and see if she can show you her work!
Isn't This Kind of Complicated?
Yes, it does seem that way, doesn't it. But it's just the nature of a Fringe Festival--it's busy! But the easy thing is, all ya gotta remember is:
- Reserve your ticket
- Show up early
- Get your Fringe Button (when you pick up your ticket!)
That's it!
